Aids
Action. "AIDS Action is a national organization
dedicated to the development, analysis, cultivation, and
encouragement of sound policies and programs in response
to the HIV epidemic. We do this through the dissemination
of information and the building and use of advocacy on
behalf of all those living with and affected by HIV. Our
goal is simple. Until It’s Over—until no one acquires HIV,
until those living with HIV have the care and services
they need, and until a cure is found.
AIDS Action has been instrumental in the development and
implementation of major public health policies to improve
the quality of life for the estimated 850,000 - 900,000
Americans who are HIV positive. AIDS Action Council
collaborates with the greater public health community to
enhance HIV prevention programs and care and treatment
services; and to secure comprehensive resources to address
community needs until the epidemic is over.

AIDSinfo.
AIDSinfo is a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
(DHHS) project providing information on HIV/AIDS clinical
trials and treatment. It is the result of merging two
previous DHHS projects: The AIDS Clinical Trials
Information Service (ACTIS) and the HIV/AIDS Treatment
Information Service (ATIS).
AIDSinfo is a central resource for current information on
federally and privately funded clinical trials for AIDS
patients and others infected with HIV. AIDS clinical
trials evaluate experimental drugs and other therapies for
adults and children at all stages of HIV infection -- from
patients who are HIV positive with no symptoms to those
with various symptoms of AIDS.
As the main dissemination point for federally approved HIV
treatment and prevention guidelines, AIDSinfo provides
information about the current treatment regimens for HIV
infection and AIDS-related illnesses, including the
prevention of HIV transmission from occupational exposure
and mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy."

remembrance, awareness and hope.

The HIV/AIDS Information
Outreach Project. "In response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, dozens
of community-based organizations in New York City and the surrounding
areas have been established to deliver services to people living with
HIV/AIDS and to their loved ones. The New York Academy of Medicine Library
responded to the HIV/AIDS epidemic by serving as a primary source of
information to community-based organizations. Subsequently, the HIV/AIDS
Information Outreach Project of The New York Academy of Medicine Library
was formally created in 1994 with grants from the National Library of
Medicine (NLM) and AT&T, with additional funding from the Academy and
Citibank to assist these NYC-area CBOs in providing vital services. The
Outreach Project was designed as a means of putting community based AIDS
organizations in touch with an extensive medical research collection. It
is founded on the premise that information will support and strengthen
those people affected by HIV/AIDS and those who work to provide for their
