Anorexia-bulimia-recovery. "Some of us are at
some or other stage of recovery, some of us are mothers or
spouses of friends of people with eating disorders, and
some of us are still mustering up the courage to seek
treatment. All are welcome. We swap stories and share in
the tears and the triumph. And there is laughter too -
daily giggles and articles just to sweeten the day and put
everything back into perspective!
Only two main no-no's really, to prevent members
triggering each other inadvertently: no numbers (weights,
BMI's, dress sizes) and also no giving out of personal
email addys or contact details.
And one last thing, it is a long-standing group decision
that we don't take part in research (university-approved
or otherwise) and I don't release names of group members
for people wanting to do interviews for whatever reason.
Members can be quite sure that their privacy is
protected."

support group for people who have not only suffered from

disease such as lupus, fibromyalgia, CFIDS etc. I myself

autoimmune disorder possibly due to all the damage I did
to my body from the anorexia and bulimia. Not all people
develop autoimmune diseases, but there is a correlation
between the two. You will get lots of support and tender
loving care here, and you may discuss anything that
pertains to the above disorders. All who are not sure you
have the above disorders, may also participate. Its also
an educational and informative group, that can hopefully
help coping with these disorders. So please join, and put
in your feedback, and get a lot of attention. And finally,
this is a list where participation by all members is
encouraged-that is where the TLC comes in."

Body Positive Forums. " Body Positive explores
taking up occupancy inside your own skin, rather than
living above the chin until you're thin. It is a set of
ideas that may help you find greater well-being in the
body you have. One of these ideas is to define "healthy
weight" not from a generic height/weight chart or even
arbitrary Body Mass Index cut-offs, but rather as the
weight your body is when you are living a reasonable life.
It is the weight at which your unique body seems to
"settle" when you are not obsessing about food and
exercise. It is the weight your body may try to "defend"
if you diet, or (conversely) if you eat more than your
body is hungry for. For most women, this weight is higher
than they want it to be, since our culture deems the
leanest bodies as the most desirable. It seems probable
that people come in a range of fatness, just like they
come in a range of heights. We don't think it's bad for
someone to be tall or short, but lots of people feel bad
to be heavier than average (or even average!) these days."

Catherine Dunbar Gone But Not Forgotten. "This
group is a tribute to Catherine Dunbar. For those who've
heard of her, nothing more needs to be said. For those who
haven't...read on. Catherine was a bright, energetic young
English girl until, at the age of 15, she discovered
anorexia. With this discovery came years of deprivation,
physical and emotional. She starved her body, mind and
spirit...eventually to death. Some would say she killed
herself. I believe it was anorexia that killed "her." It
over-powered her, took everything she had until eventually
she had no strength left to fight back. She was a young
girl fighting a monster, much bigger than she was, much
stronger, and merciless. Catherine's story is a sad one,
mostly because she didn't live to tell it. It is, however,
a wake up call to anyone suffering from this disease. Her
story, told by her mother, gives us a first hand look into
what it truly means to be anorexic. She fought and she
lost, but her life and struggles will forever haunt the
minds of anyone lucky, yes lucky, enough to cross paths
will her ghost. She should be remembered always, if for
anything, to steer people away from the monster that
killed her. For that, she is a hero.
That said, this list is for anyone who wants to help carry
on Catherine's memory. It's for people with anorexia
(myself included) and those without, loved ones of those
suffering and even those whose lives haven't been touched
by it."

are, and we can all benefit from the experiences and
insights of others, regardless of their particular ED."

Returning the Favor - Support for anorexics and loved ones
of anorexics! "Hiya! My name's Ashley, and I've
had anorexia for a little over a year now. I am 16 years
old. I personally am recovering from anorexia w/ help of a
therapist, Prozac, and best of all, Jesus Christ. I am
determined to not only get better, but provide more
education for therapists on anorexia treatment, especially
in places like Europe. I want to be an advocate. Society
sees issues like rape as SO scary; well, anorexia is SO
scary too - but no one seems to realize this! I want to
spread the world on how horrible this disease is. I feel I
have become anorexic because God wants be to overcome it
and become stronger in Him. My site is open to anyone
with/recovering/recovered from anorexia, as well as loved
ones of anorexia - have no fear here! I felt God told me

Tiggershelpline. "This just basically a place to
hang out and talk, but I will veer this list towards
anorexia because I am anorexic. I have had an eating
disorder for as long as I can remember. I am a very shy
person, but I have learned to use writing as a way to
express how I feel and what is going through my mind. I
have been on many different egroups lists and I wanted to
start my own where I could talk to others and maybe spend
more time giving advice then trying to figure everyone
out, since some groups get very crowded. I hope that there
are some teenagers who are looking for support because I
am
more than willing to help you, thanks for listening I hope
you join this group.

Tothebone · To the Bone. "This group is for
people who are in recovery or currently suffering from
anorexia nervosa. Its purpose is to provide support,
answer questions, and help in the recovery process. I have
been in recovery for 3 years, and would like to get to
know others who are in the recovery process and can
benefit from the experiences of other who have dealt with
this horrible illness. I don't want to talk to people who
are only interested in making their illness worse or
simply want weight loss "tips". This group is for people
who want to get better!"

Wishbones. "THIS IS NOT A PRO-ANOREXIA SITE! Are
you a "recovered" anorexic? A "fat anorexic"? Have you
gained the weight but still feel anorexic inside? Have the
doctors and family and friends forgotten your ED and
assume that you're OK now because you're no longer
emaciated? Do you wish you could be anorexic again? I've
started this group, because I am a "recovered" anorexic
myself. That is to say, I no longer starve myself into
bone-thinness, but I still feel anorexic on the inside. I
expect I'm not alone. This group is a gathering place for
others like me. I know I'm not the only one who feels like
this! My thanks to Lisa Arndt at anorexicweb.com for
coining the phrase 'wishbones', and for recognizing this
ignored population of eating disordered people. Come join
in and chat with people who feel the same as you!"
