  • Anorexia & Bulimia Family Support Group.  "Do you know of someone who suffers from Anorexia and or Bulimia! This is a Group specifically for Parents, Family Members and Friends. (Not For those that suffer from a Psychological Eating Disorder)

This Group was founded in 1992 and has been active on Yahoo group’s since1997. We are an organization dedicated to assisting Family Members, Parents, Siblings and Friends to cope with a person that suffers from Anorexia and/or Bulimia.

We offer support by our professionals each in their own field.
We aim is to educate family members, neutralize the anger and guilt and we will show you how you can develop new coping strategies, which then will create a healthy environment for the sufferer to recover in.

We have been associated with both sufferers and their families for the past ten years. We realize the necessity for a support group for Parents, Family Members and Friends to enable them to cope with the sufferer. We discuss medical complications that are associated with the disorder, treatment options, which includes long term Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Pharmacological management its short term and long term effect, including alternative treatment options.

Your true identity and e-mail address is confidential and may not be viewed by any member of this group."
  • Anorexia-bulimia-recovery.  "Some of us are at some or other stage of recovery, some of us are mothers or spouses of friends of people with eating disorders, and some of us are still mustering up the courage to seek treatment. All are welcome. We swap stories and share in the tears and the triumph. And there is laughter too - daily giggles and articles just to sweeten the day and put everything back into perspective!

Only two main no-no's really, to prevent members triggering each other inadvertently: no numbers (weights, BMI's, dress sizes) and also no giving out of personal email addys or contact details.

And one last thing, it is a long-standing group decision that we don't take part in research (university-approved or otherwise) and I don't release names of group members for people wanting to do interviews for whatever reason. Members can be quite sure that their privacy is protected."
  • Anorexia_bulimia_sufferers.  "This group is for people who need support from people who understand what it's like to be anorexic or bulimic, or both, you don't have to be in recovery but you do have to respect others who are, by not talking about calories and numbers, just vent your feelings."
  • Autoimmuneanorexiabulimiagroup · A support group for those who suffer from any kind of autoimmune group, and have or had an eating disorder.  "This is a family-like support group for people who have not only suffered from an eating disorder,, such as anorexia and bulimia and overeating, but have .or are suffering from an autoimmune disease such as lupus, fibromyalgia, CFIDS etc. I myself suffered from anorexia and bulimia for many years, and I now have 5 years of recovery. I have also developed an autoimmune disorder possibly due to all the damage I did to my body from the anorexia and bulimia. Not all people develop autoimmune diseases, but there is a correlation between the two. You will get lots of support and tender loving care here, and you may discuss anything that pertains to the above disorders. All who are not sure you have the above disorders, may also participate. Its also an educational and informative group, that can hopefully help coping with these disorders. So please join, and put in your feedback, and get alot of attention. And finally, this is a list where participation by all members is encouraged-that is where the TLC comes in."
  • Ban-ana.  "For those who don't know, Pro-Ana and Pro-Mia sites are groups who encourage and teach young people to be annorexic.

ED groups main objective is to make believe that people can attain perfection and discipline by 'disappearing into thin air' Those groups should be outlawed. Many have died or become sick. Many even idolize "Ana" (Annorexia) and "Mia" (Bulimia) as goddesses and even have "rituals" Lets pray for them and do what we can to stop such groups to promote and glorify the self serving slavery that is ED. We believe its OK for people suffering from any type of disorder to be able to share feelings and stories about their life..  What we're against is groups who use that to give pointers on how to sink deeper into the disorder and who encourage young people to stay that way. If a site was telling psychotic people to live without medication or wife beaters to keep doing it it would create a raucous, same should be for eating disorders."
  • BeingSick · A global community of loving people who understand what its like to be sick or care for a loved one.  "We are a community of loving supportive people who understand what its like to be sick. We live with illness, injury, disability, or care for those that do. This group is a place where you are free to be yourself. Share your frustrations about being sick, friendships, family, and just about anything! We are the family who understands when no one else does! We live your life too! You are welcome to post in HTML, colors, send links, web pages, poems, inspiration, e-cards, jokes, chat in our chat room anytime! We are non-denominational, welcoming all races, ages, religions and cultures. We know how tough life is being sick, and we care. There is support for you here anytime you need us. You are not alone."  Yahoo! group.
  • Body Positive Forums.  " Body Positive explores taking up occupancy inside your own skin, rather than living above the chin until you're thin. It is a set of ideas that may help you find greater well-being in the body you have. One of these ideas is to define "healthy weight" not from a generic height/weight chart or even arbitrary Body Mass Index cut-offs, but rather as the weight your body is when you are living a reasonable life. It is the weight at which your unique body seems to "settle" when you are not obsessing about food and exercise. It is the weight your body may try to "defend" if you diet, or (conversely) if you eat more than your body is hungry for. For most women, this weight is higher than they want it to be, since our culture deems the leanest bodies as the most desirable. It seems probable that people come in a range of fatness, just like they come in a range of heights. We don't think it's bad for someone to be tall or short, but lots of people feel bad to be heavier than average (or even average!) these days."

We don't ask for prefection here, we only ask that you be open and honest with us, but with YOURSELF more importantly. Everyone who has a desire to recover are welcomed here. The Official Web Site for CEA-HOW is http://www.ceahow.org.

ANYONE may share on ANY TOPIC they wish (except about specific foods). Recipes and meal plans may be posted in the "Files" Section. Even if you don't have a day of abstinence you are welcomed to share. This is a place to find love, compassion, support and fellowship to help you get that day!

We encourage positive pitches, but sometimes one just needs to dump. The only request that seems to be the ongoing consensus is that you indicate how many days abstinent you have so that we may have an opportunity to reach out to you if you are in need of support, or if you need a sponsor. We encourage you to qualify your pitches by stating how long you have been in program, how long is your current abstinence if you are comfortable to do so. However it is not required in order to pitch."

  • Ending Bulimia.  "I am 57 years old and I have a MA in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. I am an ordained minister and have been since 1985. My church website is: www.msia.org. I am beginning to put together a book about my personal experience with bulimia and this group is people who are willing to work on this too. I know that if I could conquer this horrible monster of a disease, anyone can and to that end, I find that it is time for me to "come out of the closet" with my story and my healing.

I was a profoundly active (5-7 times per day) bulimic for over 5 years and by applying techniques that I learned in my pastoral and psychological studies I was able to stop the behavior.

What I am looking for is a few people who are willing to share on very deep and intimate levels about their experience who:

    1. are sick and tired of being sick and tired
    2. are willing to do whatever it takes
    3. who are courageous
    4. who are seriously interested in recovery
    5. who are willing to do the work, whatever it is
    6. who are willing to keep me in the loop on how the work is going
    7. who are connected to Spirit or God or a Higher Power."

This will also be a place to share all aspects of what makes us really healthy - physical, emotional, spiritual, etc. We'll share research as well as anecdotal information. Discussion is open to any aspect of health - how it fails, how we get it back, and how to keep it once we get it back. Come on in and let us know how we can help."

  • House_of_Mirrors.  "House of Mirrors is a group for adults who have any form of eating disorder: Anorexia, Bulimia, Compulsive Over-Eating, etc. This group is not about judging others or ourselves; it's about supporting each other as we explore ways to adjust our behaviors and attitudes, and create a more healthy, less harmful relationship with food.

People with COE and Ana/Mia disorders have more in common than would seem at first glance. We all have false images of ourselves and the inability to accept ourselves as we are, and we can all benefit from the experiences and insights of others, regardless of their particular ED."

  • ISIS Australia.  "ISIS - Centre for Women's Action on Eating Issues is a community based organisation located in Brisbane, Australia. We work with women who identify as having a serious eating issue such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Compulsive Eating. • MirrorMirror · Mirror Mirror on the wall.  "Those suffering with Bulimia. I want this to be a support group, to help...to encourage...to build up!"
  • Moms4Recovery.  "This is a group for Mothers (of younger children) who have eating disorders and/or alcohol troubles. My ED (bulimia and restricting) is my primary addiction and alcohol my second, but that is not a requirement for this list. I wanted to reach out to Moms out there who are struggling. I am a stay at home Mom, but this is also not a requirement.

Mothers of young children are not always able to get to Meetings and spend hours a day on recovery. This is a place to share stories, encouragement, recovery experience and struggles.

This list doesn't endorse any particular recovery plan, but we don't exclude any, either. Twelve steppers, Women for Sobriety, Food Addicts Anonymous and all others are welcome here. Join us in our journey toward recovery."

  • Only The Lonely (Men With Bulimia).  "This group if for men who suffer from bulimia. I am a 28-year-old man who has been battling with this disease for the past eleven years. I currently underwent hospitalization, and I am now in recovery. As a man, I know that there aren't a lot of resources out there for guys. I'd like for this group to be a place where you can feel comfortable talking about your issues. As such, I'd like to open this group exclusively to guys who suffer with bulimia."

  • Oz_ed_support · Oz ED Support.  "This is a group for Australian sufferers of Anorexia and Bulimia who wish to find support in fighting these pernicious disorders. It is NOT a "pro-ana" site and messages relating to tips on weight loss, fostering competition rather than supporting healing, or otherwise being counter-productive (as defined arbitrarily by the moderators) will not be tolerated. The intent is to provide a welcoming, supportive environment, therefore spamming will not be tolerated. However, messages from members that provide information and links relevant to resources for ED sufferers, whether commercial or otherwise, are most welcome. Again, relevance will be defined by the moderators.
This list is moderated by a small group of people from Queensland support organisation Future Road who monitor subscriptions and messages. Postings on this group, while moderated for negative content, do not necessarily reflect the views of anyone other than the poster.

Other than that, enjoy your stay!

    Regards, Kelly Pillinger"

You may be suffering from an eating disorder, in recovery, recovered or be close to somebody who is. This is a place to share poems, prose and journal extracts relating to eating disorders or to simply talk to others who understand the lonliness and pain inflicted by any eating disorder. Come here to express your pain through words or give support and encouragement to others. You DO NOT have to be in recovery to join this group, but remember Eating Disorders can KILL.
